Switchover Progress

Digital UK

Our work enabled Digital UK to collectively brief and engage over 60 key stakeholders and the national media on the progress of digital TV switchover

"Fishburn Hedges support was invaluable in making our progress update event a success - from helping secure quality speakers and guests right through to the meticulous organisation." David Scott, Chief Executive, Digital UK

The challenge

Digital TV switchover is now halfway through its five-year timetable. To mark this occasion, Digital UK wanted to update stakeholders and the media on the successful delivery of the programme to date and share the lessons that can be applied to similar large scale projects.

Our response

We organised a progress update event to remind and refresh stakeholders and journalists about the key features of the switchover programme. With contributions from David Scott (Chief Executive, Digital UK), Ed Vaizey MP (Minister for Culture, Communications and Creative Industries) and Dianne Jeffrey (Chair, Age UK), we also used the event as a hook to launch and share new research into the impact of switchover on TV viewers. With a captive audience, there was a unique opportunity as well to publicise Digital UK’s first ever fully online and interactive annual report created and designed by our sister agency Further.

The results

The event demonstrated to stakeholders, Digital UK’s value and expertise, attracting over 60 journalists, charitable partners, retailers, manufacturers, broadcasters, statutory organisations and government. The research – which ensured Digital UK’s name featured widely in the national and online media - achieved over 20 pieces of coverage in publications including the Guardian, Telegraph, Mirror and Mail as well as earning a slot on Radio 2’s Drive Time show. The annual report website meanwhile received over 700 hits in its first week alone.
