In the latest Front Room, we’ve taken a look at pharmacists.

Pharmacists play a key role in delivering the advice, care and resources that make up major public health campaigns. 

By talking through some issues of concern with this group, we discovered that pharmacists are increasingly being seen, by the public and the wider health services, as front line health providers. 

The profession can offer valuable support and advice to the public but need to be seen as separate from GP services and mainstream health care. 

In order to play the key role expected of them, pharmacists need to be given increased notice, further training and more control if they are to play their part in delivering the many large scale public health campaigns that are running across the country.
