Dermot Finch
A note from Dermot Finch who joined us this week as our new head of public affairs:
Hello, I just wanted to introduce myself - I’m the new head of public affairs at Fishburn Hedges. This is quite a unique move, I think. I’m joining Fishburn Hedges not from another agency, but from a career in the Treasury, Foreign Office and a start-up think tank.
So why the move? After 15 years advising Chancellors, Ambassadors and city leaders, I wanted to apply my UK and US government experience to the private sector – and to a broad range of issues and clients. Which is exactly what I’ll be doing at Fishburn Hedges.
In the Treasury, I was a policy adviser for 11 years advising both Conservative and Labour Chancellors either side of the 1997 election, and covered a range of issues including financial services. I was then the Treasury’s man at the British Embassy in Washington DC, during George W Bush’s first term. Most recently, I set up and ran the Centre for Cities think tank from 2005 until this year.
I’m an established blogger, commentator and event chair. Here’s my blog – you can also follow me on Twitter.
Hope to see you at party conferences – all the best, Dermot
