About the Media & Government Series
[Back to the Media and Government site]
The Institute for Government and Fishburn Hedges have collaborated on a series of events, exploring the latest trends and freshest thinking with those who have real insight to the complex and fascinating relationship between media and government.
The Media & Government series explored critical questions about power, influence and ethics in the constantly shifting worlds of media and politics.
We asked:
- Who has the most influence: newspapers, broadcast or social media?
- How much is new media changing the way that government makes policy?
- Do the media matter as much as politicians seem to think they do?
- Is there a case for tighter government regulation of the media?
The series and four events, explored the interaction between media, politics and government policy, not least in the wake of the News International scandal and the ongoing Leveson inquiry. We have featured leading politicians, advisers, journalists, bloggers, commentators and regulators.
